Restore EPA's online presence, public access to climate data

To: Sen. Padilla, Rep. Kim, Sen. Schiff

From: A constituent in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA

February 21, 2025

I am writing to express grave concern over the alarming actions taken by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to diminish its online presence and limit public access to important information. The removal of climate change and environmental justice references, along with the disabling of links and resources from various EPA programs, represents a blatant form of censorship that undermines transparency and hinders the public's right to knowledge. The EPA's decision to align its digital footprint with the current administration's goals, at the expense of factual and scientific data, is deeply troubling. This move not only disregards the agency's accomplishments under previous administrations but also threatens to impede progress on critical environmental issues that affect the well-being of all Americans. By shrinking its social media platforms and public outreach efforts, the EPA is effectively silencing its own voice and denying citizens access to vital information. This censorship runs counter to the principles of an open and democratic society, where the free flow of information and public discourse are essential. I urge you to take immediate action to restore the EPA's online presence and ensure that accurate and comprehensive information on climate change, environmental justice, and other crucial topics is readily available to the public. The American people have a right to access this knowledge, and it is the EPA's responsibility to provide it without censorship or political interference. The decision to suppress scientific data and limit public access to information should be a matter of grave concern for all who value transparency, accountability, and the pursuit of knowledge. Please prioritize the public's right to information and work to reinstate the EPA's online resources and outreach efforts without delay.
