VOTE NO on the JUDGES Act (H.R. 1702) — Our Democracy Depends On It

I am writing to urge you in the strongest possible terms to vote NO on the JUDGES Act (H.R. 1702). This dangerous bill would allow Donald Trump to appoint 22 new lifetime federal district court judges—positions he would almost certainly fill with loyalists whose purpose is to insulate him from accountability and rubber-stamp his authoritarian agenda.
This is not a routine judicial expansion. This is a power grab. It is an attempt to bend the judicial branch into a tool of the executive, eroding the checks and balances that are the backbone of our democracy.
We are already witnessing coordinated efforts to undermine the rule of law—from attacks on judges to blatant disregard for court rulings. Granting Trump the power to reshape the judiciary for his personal gain is reckless and short-sighted. It would have lasting consequences for civil rights, reproductive freedom, voting access, and the very foundation of judicial independence.
Congress has a duty to protect our institutions from authoritarian overreach. Do not hand Trump the gavel to dismantle justice from the bench.
Vote NO on H.R. 1702. History will remember who stood up—and who stayed silent.
