Support the Senate's bipartisan DHS funding bill and reject Trump's manufactured crisis. His Friday memo to pay TSA workers proves he could have ended their month-long unpaid work at any time. Instead, he chose to let 480 officers quit and absences reach 40% at some airports during spring break, creating security risks and chaos for travelers.
Trump killed every bipartisan attempt to resolve this. When the Senate passed funding for TSA, Coast Guard, and FEMA early Friday morning, he backed Speaker Johnson's rejection of it as "a joke" and pushed the House's dead-on-arrival bill instead. Then he suddenly signed a memo to pay TSA workers anyway, using unclear legal authority and funding sources. If an executive action was all that was needed, why did he wait a month while families missed paychecks and airport security deteriorated?
This was never about policy. Trump demanded his Save America Act voting overhaul be tied to DHS funding ahead of the midterms. He's using federal workers and public safety as leverage for his political agenda. Pass clean funding for TSA and other critical DHS operations now, without conditions that have nothing to do with homeland security.
