where are our rights?

To: Rep. Moore, Sen. Johnson, Sen. Baldwin

From: A constituent in Milwaukee, WI

November 1

I am writing as a concerned constituent to ask a fundamental question: when did the rights guaranteed to all Americans by the Constitution stop applying to the everyday person? For too many, the promise of liberty and the pursuit of happiness feels out of reach. People are struggling to put food on the table, afford health care, and meet basic needs. How can anyone truly exercise the freedoms guaranteed by our Constitution when survival itself is a daily challenge? Our government should serve its constituents, not billionaires and large corporations. Policies should prioritize human dignity, basic economic security, and access to essential services so that every American can meaningfully exercise their rights. This includes: Ensuring affordable healthcare so no one dies or suffers because they cannot pay for medical treatment. Protecting the right to basic necessities, including food, housing, and safe workplaces. Making government work for the people by funding programs and initiatives that support everyday Americans rather than the wealthy elite. It is time for Congress to remember that rights are not abstract — they are only meaningful when people have the means to exercise them. I urge you to act decisively to restore these fundamental protections and ensure that the government truly serves the people. ne
