Oppose All Funding for ICE and CBP in FY2026 DHS Bill
To: Sen. Moreno, Sen. Husted
From: A constituent in West Chester, OH
January 29
I am writing to urge you to vote no on the FY2026 Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill and demand an immediate halt to all funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection. With the January 30th spending deadline approaching, this is a critical moment to take a stand against agencies that have caused documented harm in our communities.
ICE and CBP operations have resulted in violence, abuses, and deaths in American communities and immigration detention centers. These are not isolated incidents but patterns that demand accountability. Continuing to fund these agencies without addressing these systemic failures makes Congress complicit in ongoing harm to people living in our communities.
I am asking you to refuse to provide any funding to ICE and CBP through the current appropriations process. Beyond that, I urge you to take immediate action to revoke the tens of billions of dollars already allocated to these agencies through last summer's reconciliation bill. Half measures will not address the scope of this crisis.
Standing with your constituents means recognizing that public safety is not advanced through agencies that operate with impunity and cause harm to community members. The deaths and abuses occurring under ICE and CBP operations undermine the values we expect our government to uphold.
I understand this is a significant request, but the situation demands a significant response. The appropriations process gives you direct power to withhold funding and demand accountability. I am counting on you to use that power to protect people in our communities from further harm.
Please vote no on the FY2026 DHS Bill and work to halt all funding for ICE and CBP operations until these agencies can demonstrate they will operate without causing violence and death.
