Develop and support legislation to end Citizens United at the state level

To: Sen. Dondero Loop, Assembly Member Kasama, Gov. Lombardo

From: A verified voter in Las Vegas, NV

November 5

I urge you to introduce and support state legislation modeled on Hawaii’s Act 11 and Montana’s Constitutional Initiative 194, aimed at limiting the influence of corporate and organizational money in elections. The Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision continues to shape campaign-finance law, and action is still needed to overturn its effects and restore stronger limits on corporate election spending. But while that broader effort continues, our state can act more quickly to protect the voices of ordinary people and strengthen transparency in our elections. Please work with your colleagues to develop and support legislation suited to our state’s laws and constitution to end Citizens United at the state level. I encourage you to consult constituents and community groups as it is drafted, so its protections are clear, effective, and consistent with constitutional requirements.
