Fight back against the Trump administration's proposed changes to the 2030 census. The White House wants to exclude non-citizens without permanent residency from the count, strip out race and ethnicity questions that have appeared in every census since 1790, and ban future questions on sexual orientation. The Fourteenth Amendment is explicit: the census must count the "whole number of persons in each state." This proposal doesn't bend that requirement — it breaks it. The stakes go beyond data collection. If these changes survive court challenges, they will directly warp congressional redistricting, compounding the gerrymandering damage already enabled by the Supreme Court gutting the Voting Rights Act. Congress has constitutional authority over census questions, and the administration is required to submit its proposed questions by April 1. That's the moment to act. Use that authority to reject these changes before they take root.
