Reject pro-industry BLM nomination jeopardizing public lands management

The nomination of a petroleum industry lobbyist to lead the Bureau of Land Management is deeply concerning. The BLM oversees 245 million acres of public lands and plays a critical role in energy development and resource extraction. Appointing someone with clear ties to the oil and gas industry raises serious conflict of interest issues and suggests a prioritization of fossil fuel interests over balanced management of public lands. This pick demonstrates a troubling disregard for environmental protections, conservation efforts, and sustainable use of public lands for recreation, grazing, and other purposes beyond energy exploitation. The nominee has a documented history of opposing regulations aimed at promoting multiple uses of public lands beyond just drilling and mining. The BLM director should be an impartial steward dedicated to managing public lands for the benefit of all Americans, not just oil and gas companies. This nomination threatens to undermine that principle and turn over vast stretches of public lands to unchecked resource extraction with little oversight. I urge you to reject this nomination and insist on a BLM director committed to responsible, balanced management that respects environmental safeguards and the public's interest in preserving lands for future generations. Public lands belong to all Americans, not just industry stakeholders, and their oversight should reflect that.
