Dental, Vision & Hearing for All

How about incrementalism for Medicare for All starting with basic dental, vision, and hearing care? A basic dental plan would be for 2 cleanings, fluoride, needed xrays, fillings, basic crowns, and extractions. A basic vision plan would be for an eye exam + two pairs of glasses with a limit on frame cost & lens styles to provide correction needed, not flashy styles. A basic hearing plan would be an exam + fitting for basic level hearing implements. n a few years. Data could be kept easily for these measures. Since we know dental health affects long term health, the benefits of that would be drastically noted withi Vision plans would help kids see the board at school, therefore better grades. I'd presume it would help reduce amount & severity of car crashes & other traffic incidents. Hearing plans would mean that people with hearing loss would have a better quality of life. Measuring that wouldn't be quantitative, but it could be done as well. When I think about how so many of our programs historically have, are, and will incrementally expand - starting small could work. Insurance companies wouldn't be as threatened by this since most don't cover those needs in their health insurance plans, so no worries about their lobbyists. This could even start in a few states with a pilot program funded by federal subsidies, perhaps offering to Medicare, Medicaid and SNAP enrollees. Those are the people who would use it consistently & would provide a great data collection to forecast for the broader population.
