Prioritize confirming judicial appointments
To: Sen. Butler, Sen. Padilla
From: A constituent in Mountain View, CA
November 22
The Senate must act swiftly to confirm the remaining judicial nominees from President Biden during the lame-duck session. With limited time before the next Congress, there is an urgency to secure lifetime appointments for highly qualified, fair-minded jurists who will uphold the rule of law and protect civil rights. President Biden has prioritized nominating diverse candidates, including groundbreaking appointments of the first Black woman Supreme Court justice, record numbers of LGBTQ judges, and nominees with vital civil rights experience. However, this transformative work is incomplete with over a dozen district and appellate court nominees awaiting votes. Our federal judiciary wields immense power over fundamental freedoms, necessitating judges devoted to equal justice rather than partisan interests. The Senate's Constitutional duty demands an all-hands effort to confirm every pending nomination and preserve President Biden's enduring legacy of restoring integrity to our federal bench.
