Oppose H.R. 722 and Defend Reproductive Healthcare Access

To: Sen. Gallego, Sen. Kelly, Rep. Ciscomani

From: A verified voter in Tucson, AZ

March 7

I am writing to urge you to oppose multiple threats to reproductive healthcare that are endangering lives and undermining the will of voters in states that have chosen to protect abortion access. H.R. 722 would grant legal rights to fertilized eggs, embryos, and fetuses, effectively banning abortion nationwide even in states where voters explicitly chose to protect reproductive rights. This legislation overrides state-level decisions and imposes a federal ban that the majority of Americans oppose. I ask you to vote against H.R. 722 and publicly oppose this attempt to strip away reproductive freedom. The Trump administration has barred doctors from providing life-saving abortions in emergencies, directly contradicting the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act. These restrictions have already driven up maternal mortality rates and put patients in life-threatening situations. I urge you to demand enforcement of EMTALA so that doctors can provide necessary emergency care without fear of prosecution. H.R. 589 would repeal the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act, which criminalizes attempts to prevent individuals from safely entering clinics for reproductive healthcare. Repealing the FACE Act would endanger patients and healthcare workers. Please oppose H.R. 589. FDA head Marty Kakary is threatening to review the safety of mifepristone based on junk science from a conservative think tank, despite decades of evidence confirming its safety. I ask you to speak out against these false allegations and defend evidence-based medicine. The administration has slashed funding to community family planning clinics through Title X cuts and censored scientific information by restricting access to ReproductiveRights.gov. I urge you to work to reinstate Title X funding and restore public access to this vital health information. These coordinated attacks on bodily autonomy have real consequences for your constituents. I ask you to stand up for reproductive rights and oppose all legislation and administrative actions that restrict access to comprehensive healthcare.
