Oppose SAVE Act - Protect Voting Rights

To: Rep. Moolenaar

From: A constituent in Caledonia, MI

April 12

The SAVE Act poses a significant barrier to voting rights for millions of Americans, particularly married women and others who have changed their legal names. An estimated 69 million American women do not have a birth certificate matching their current legal name due to marriage or other reasons. Requiring individuals to present documentation proving citizenship in person when registering or updating voter information creates an unnecessary obstacle that could disenfranchise eligible voters. Voting is a fundamental right, and measures should be taken to protect and expand access to the ballot, not erect additional hurdles. This bill does little to address genuine issues of voter fraud, which is exceedingly rare, while potentially disenfranchising millions. I urge you to oppose the SAVE Act and any legislation that threatens to undermine the sacred right to vote.
