These actions occurred in the days leading up to a consequential election and raise serious concerns of illegal voter influence under both federal and state law. This activity appears to violate 52 U.S. Code § 10307(c), which prohibits offering money or anything of value to induce voting behavior. Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul filed a legal challenge, but the courts declined to act before the election concluded. While Musk claims the payments were for signing a petition, the timing and the political context strongly suggest an attempt to sway the election. As a constituent, I expect you to: 1. Publicly call for a full investigation into Musk’s conduct by the Department of Justice and the Federal Election Commission. 2. Sponsor or support legislation closing any loopholes that allow billionaires to influence elections through financial coercion masked as political engagement. 3. Push for accountability by advocating that Musk be barred from future electoral funding, influence operations, or petition campaigns until a full legal review is complete. Unchecked, this behavior will set a dangerous precedent for the role of wealth in democratic elections. No individual—regardless of their resources—should be able to bypass laws designed to protect electoral fairness.
