Please answer my question - don't send me interview clips
To: Sen. Schmitt
From: A constituent in Plattsburg, MO
July 11
I wrote to you on 21 June 2025, to inquire about how to react to IDE. I received a reply on 9 July 2025. My email read, in part, “What are women and children supposed to do when grabbed by unidentified men and put into unmarked cars? What happens if someone resists being “kidnapped” by unidentifiable men and they truly are ICE agents, is this a crime if we cannot determine if they are ICE or criminals? Women are at great risk of being kidnapped, raped, tortured, murdered and trafficked for prostitution by real criminals, adding this layer of uncertainty that it “might” be a federal ICE agent creates a most problematic situation. As a woman, if I am being assaulted and men are attempting to kidnap me, my instincts are going to be resistance, especially if I cannot see any form of ID. I spent 35 years in the US Army Corps of Engineers, both active and civilian and I have great respect for law enforcement, but men in street clothes with covered faces and no ID is a bit terrifying and I would like an answer as to what you advise.” You responded by sending me an interview clip that does NOT answer my question. You noted some condone violence against ICE. To be clear, I do NOT condone violence as I indicate in my email above. I do not condone violence against elected leaders, judges or families of these folks. But you don’t wear a mask and I’ve not seen your family in a mask to hide their identity. ICE are trained professionals who should have no fear if they are operating in accordance with the laws.
Please try again to actually ANSWER my question. I realize your TV interview was not meant for my specific question so I’d like an honest answer showing that you have some respect for constituents.
