As someone raised in a Navy family, whose father and brother flew off aircraft carriers, I am appalled at the abhorrent situation on the USS Abraham Lincoln. Sailors are underfed, exhausted, depressed, and working in deplorable conditions. They are living in filthy quarters, have had no shore leave, and have no timeline for returning home. At least six have attempted to jump overboard. Members of our military are being mistreated to the point where suicide looks like an option. We are the richest and most powerful country in the world. How can this be happening to our dedicated service members? This crisis must be remedied immediately. You, as a member of Congress, have to the power to provide that remedy. You have the power to make sure members of our armed forces receive the respect and living conditions they deserve. My wife and I urge to you to deploy all your congressional power to ensure our sailors and soldiers are treated with respect and provided with proper working conditions and provisioning. Demand answers. Demand relief for our service members.
