I am writing as a constituent to strongly oppose the SAVE Act. This legislation is, in effect, voter suppression dressed up as election security. It risks disenfranchising eligible voters—particularly seniors, married women, students, and working Americans—by imposing burdensome documentation requirements that many do not readily have.
At a time when faith in our institutions is already strained, Congress should be expanding access to the ballot, not restricting it. The right to vote is fundamental, and any policy that makes it harder for eligible citizens to participate undermines the legitimacy of our democracy.
I am also deeply concerned about the broader context in which this bill is being advanced. Congress has a constitutional responsibility to act as a check on the executive branch. That duty requires vigilance in protecting democratic norms and ensuring that power is not consolidated at the expense of the people.
I urge you to vote NO on the SAVE Act and instead support policies that strengthen access to voting and uphold democratic accountability.
