Unconstitutional executive orders

To: Sen. Sullivan, Rep. Begich, Sen. Murkowski

From: A constituent in Fairbanks, AK

January 29

I'm trying to wrap my head around the most recent--patently unconstitutional--executive orders by Donald Trump. It doesn't feel like hyperbole to say we're in the midst of an administrative coup. We're losing what we have of a democratic republic in real-time. This federal-funding freeze is no joke. For example, Medicaid portals are down in all 50 states. People are worried they won't have jobs tomorrow, as this freeze is set to take effect at 5pm today. This is predatory on the most vulnerable citizens of our state and our nation. To reiterate, this is utterly unconstitutional. Congress has the power of the purse; congress appropriates federal money. The executive branch has no authority to stop federal spending like this. This is coup-level consolidation of power, dictator-style. By freezing federal aid Trump is stealing power from Congress and from the American people. I urge you now to speak up and to defend your constitutional authority as my representative from the great state of Alaska. Make no mistake- Trump is testing how far you will allow him to take things. Please stand up before it is too late and there is new precedence set on what this man is allowed to do.
