Demand the Department of Homeland Security end child and family detention and release the families, halt the expansion of inhumane detention facilities and invest in community-based case management programs that support families. The immigration detention system is expanding rapidly, even as evidence of harm continues to mount. These warehouses are spaces built to store goods, often without windows or fresh air. We need an immigration process that is safe and orderly, one that balances compassion and security. Our tax dollars should be used to fund care instead of cruelty. We should be investing in the programs our families actually need: affordable health care, accessible childcare, stable housing, and strong communities.
