Oppose H.R. 4: Trump's Budget Rescissions Package
To: Rep. Smucker
From: A constituent in Lititz, PA
July 17
The proposed Rescissions Act of 2025 (H.R. 4) poses a severe threat to essential programs that provide vital assistance and support globally. This legislation seeks to eliminate $1.1 billion in funding for public broadcasting entities like NPR and PBS, $125 million for the Clean Technology Fund aiding developing nations transition to low-carbon technologies, and a staggering $900 million for global health initiatives such as the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), which has saved millions of lives worldwide. Additionally, it would cut $200 million in contributions to international organizations like USAID and billions more in foreign aid for disaster relief, refugee assistance, democracy promotion, peacekeeping efforts, and economic development programs. These drastic funding cuts threaten to disrupt and reverse years of progress in addressing urgent global challenges. I urge you to firmly oppose H.R. 4 and safeguard these critical investments that uplift communities, promote human rights, combat diseases, mitigate conflicts, and foster sustainability across the globe. These programs manifest our nation's values of compassion, justice, and global leadership.
