Congress must act immediately to block the Trump administration's decision to end Medicare Part D subsidies and restore Medicare's ability to negotiate drug prices. Ending these subsidies will raise premiums for roughly half of all Part D enrollees — on top of the damage already done by stripping Medicare's negotiating power in the reconciliation bill. Seniors and disabled Americans cannot absorb these hits. The Part D subsidy currently keeps prescription drug coverage at an average of $36 per person per month. When it expires, KFF estimates some enrollees will see premiums jump by as much as $20 a month. That's real money for people on fixed incomes who are already rationing medications. Mehmet Oz can spin this as "market stabilization," but the math doesn't lie — costs are going up, not down. My prescription costs have already climbed. I need my representative fighting to reverse this decision and reinstate Medicare's drug negotiating authority. Do both. Do it now.
