Oppose the "Fix our Forests Act"

To: Rep. Kennedy, Sen. Lee, Sen. Curtis

From: A constituent in Sandy, UT

May 1

H.R. 471, the "Undoing NEPA Overreach Act," represents a concerning step backwards in protecting our nation's forests and environment. This bill seeks to undermine the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), a bedrock law that ensures federal projects undergo thorough environmental review before proceeding. Exempting certain forest management activities from NEPA oversight would deprive decision-makers and the public of critical information about a project's environmental impacts. Rather than promoting responsible forestry practices, this legislation puts our precious natural resources at risk by prioritizing expedited timber harvesting over comprehensive analysis and public input. We must safeguard NEPA's vital role in maintaining transparency and accountability when it comes to managing federal lands. I urge you to reject H.R. 471 and uphold strong environmental protections for the sustainable stewardship of our forests.
