This nation was established on a constitution and a series of amendments to that document that provide human beings living on this land to certain inalienable rights. The very first of these amendments includes the right to free speech and a free press, except in cases of speech or press that incites violence.
As I watch my television news broadcasts, I can turn to FOX and watch anchors and affiliates slamming concepts of freedom and human rights, completely untethered by restriction. However, if I try to watch say, Colbert or Kimmel, they are operating under duress- victims of an FCC that suppresses freedom of information based on who knows what.
Journalists are being censored, taken off air, even arrested and charged with crimes. Independent media influencers’ content is being suppressed on American owned social media platforms.
Every single thing that happens in terms of our government affects every American. Whether actions here or abroad, we have the right to know that which affects us.
Every morning, I have to deliberately search out independent journalists for news of what is happening outside my front door. And every morning I have to consult unbiased international news resources to find out what is happening outside my country’s front door.
Stand up for the constitution. Stand up for the first amendment. Stand up for freedom of information. Stand up for WE THE PEOPLE who literally put you in a position to do something.
