Investigate DOJ Misconduct and Hold Todd Blanche Accountable

To: Sen. McCormick, Sen. Fetterman

From: A constituent in Lewisburg, PA

August 3

Demand a full investigation into the Department of Justice's pattern of grand jury misconduct and block Todd Blanche's confirmation until there is real accountability. Judges across the country are calling out DOJ lawyers for behavior they've described as "unlawful," "unethical," and "unseemly" — this isn't a fringe concern, it's a documented crisis reported by ProPublica on July 28th. The cases against David Hearn and James Comey both show the same fingerprints: lawyers suggesting "irregularities in the grand jury process" that may have misled grand juries into returning indictments. Comey was indicted four days after Trump installed a loyalist as U.S. attorney — an appointment later found to be invalid. Secret Service agents were told to rush a summary of Comey's interview directly to Trump on Air Force One. That is not law enforcement. That is a political operation wearing a badge. Blanche also put his name to a $1.776 billion slush fund to pay off January 6th convicts and a side deal promising not to prosecute Trump or his family for tax crimes — a deal U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams said was filed to "manipulate the judicial process." The people wrongly targeted by this DOJ deserve answers and recourse. Confirm nothing, investigate everything.
