Covid-19 Vaccine Affordability and Leadership Accountability
To: Pres. Trump
From: A constituent in Austin, TX
September 5
I am writing to you as a college student and someone with underlying health conditions to raise urgent concerns about public health access and leadership in our country. These issues are not abstract debates. They directly affect my ability, and the ability of millions of Americans like me, to remain healthy and safe.
Recently, I received the newest Covid-19 vaccine and was shocked to be charged $80 out of pocket, even with health insurance. In earlier years, my vaccines were fully covered, which made it possible for me and many others to stay current on protection without worrying about costs. The change in coverage creates an unfair financial barrier. For students and working families already balancing tight budgets, an $80 expense is significant. For people with health vulnerabilities, like myself, that cost can mean delaying or even skipping vaccination. This puts individuals and communities at greater risk.
I am asking you to take action at the federal level to restore vaccine affordability and access. Preventative care like vaccination must remain free and accessible for all Americans. Without strong national protections, too many people will be forced to choose between their health and their finances.
I am also alarmed by the role of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in public life. His history of spreading harmful misinformation about vaccines and promoting conspiracy theories has endangered lives and weakened public trust in science. Someone with such a record should not be allowed to hold public office. I urge you to use the full weight of your leadership to pursue the removal of RFK Jr. from office and to make it clear that leaders who deliberately undermine public health have no place in government.
Mr. President, students, families, and vulnerable Americans like me depend on leadership that puts science, health, and safety first. I ask that you take bold action to ensure vaccines remain affordable and accessible, and that you hold accountable those who spread dangerous misinformation.
