I’m writing as a constituent deeply alarmed by ICE’s escalating pattern of excessive force, including the killing of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis. Video evidence and eyewitness accounts show she was turning away when ICE agent Jonathan Ross opened fire, killing an unarmed U.S. citizen and mother of three. Federal authorities have blocked state investigators from reviewing the case, leaving the FBI to investigate its own partner agency. This lack of transparency is unacceptable.
This tragedy is part of a broader pattern. National reporting has documented numerous deaths linked to ICE operations in 2025, many under questionable circumstances. The agency continues to operate with militarized tactics, minimal oversight, and no meaningful accountability.
I am asking you to take immediate action:
1. Support a fully independent investigation into the killing of Renee Good and require public release of all video and audio evidence.
2. Mandate external oversight of ICE use‑of‑force incidents and restore transparency requirements, including body‑worn camera policies.
3. Redirect funding from ICE enforcement to expand the number of immigration judges and reduce the massive backlog of lawful cases.
4. End the use of militarized raids and tactical teams for civil immigration matters.
5. Invest in community‑based case management programs that are proven to be safer, more humane, and more cost‑effective.
ICE’s unchecked violence is a threat to public safety. Continued congressional support for the agency’s current structure enables these abuses. I urge you to take a public stand, demand accountability, and support humane, effective immigration reform.
