Permanent Ceasefire for Palestinians in Gaza / My vote this November
To: V.P. Harris
From: A constituent in Rowland Heights, CA
August 27
If I may speak frankly, Vice President Harris — you are going to have to do a lot more to earn "The People"'s votes than briefly mentioning a ceasefire for Gaza, as you did during the Democratic National Convention last week. A PERMANENT ceasefire is what Palestinians and Gaza need, and it will never make sense to me that the Biden/Harris administration is trying to justify what Israel has done - killing MORE than 40,000 Palestinians - by referring to this genocide as a "war" and Israel's "right to defend itself." It is not a war when the majority of the Palestinians who lost their lives were innocent civilians – families, parents who have lost their children, and children who have lost their parents. They cannot fight back or protect themselves. Let me repeat myself: this is NOT a war.
It's sickening that the current administration has chosen to not only turn a blind eye to the atrocities committed by Israel but to also supply Israel with the foreign aid to do so, using billions that could be going to anything that may help "The People" of the United States, a permanent ceasefire, and to help Gaza rebuild what the United States has shamefully had a hand in destroying.
Do not speak on the innocent Palestinian lives taken in Gaza by Israelis and Americans, and the "devastation" and their starvation, as if this administration does not have blood on its hands for its active role and enablement in the tens of thousands of unjust Palestinian civilian deaths.
The constituents will not be easily won over your passing comments on Gaza's suffering when the US is part of the problem.
Do better.
