If you believe in democracy at all, now is the moment to prove it.
The Trump administration’s efforts to “nationalize” voting, seize state election records, demand access to voter rolls, and impose unconstitutional executive orders on mail in voting and proof of citizenship requirements are a direct attack on states’ rights and on the Constitution. The creation of a secret national citizenship database only deepens concerns about federal overreach and potential disenfranchisement.
Alaska’s elections belong to Alaskans.
Our state has unique challenges. Rural communities already face barriers including distance, weather, limited infrastructure, and reliance on mail and early voting. Any federal interference that restricts access or undermines confidence in our system disproportionately harms rural Alaska and Alaska Native communities.
You have sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution. That includes defending state authority over elections and protecting every eligible Alaskan’s right to vote.
I am asking you to:
• Publicly and forcefully oppose unconstitutional federal interference in state election systems
• Defend Alaska’s authority to manage its own voter data and election processes
• Protect access to the ballot for rural and remote communities
Democracy only works if people can vote and trust that their votes count. Please stand up now. Silence will be seen as complicity.
