Vote yes on Senator Sanders resolution to stop funding Israel Subject: Support Future Efforts to Block U.S. Arms Sales to Israel
I am writing as your constituent to urge you to support Senator Bernie Sanders’ efforts to block U.S. military arms sales to the Israeli government, and to vote in favor of any future joint resolutions of disapproval on this issue.
Yesterday, the Senate voted on S.J.Res. 32 and S.J.Res. 33 — resolutions that would have blocked the sale of $295 million in Caterpillar D9 bulldozers and $151.8 million in 1,000-pound gravity bombs to Israel. I am deeply disappointed that these measures did not pass.
The American people are watching. Polls consistently show that a majority of Americans do not support continued weapons transfers to the Netanyahu government given its conduct in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, and now Iran. These are not abstract policy questions — these are bulldozers demolishing homes and bombs falling on civilians.
I urge you to:
∙ Support any future resolutions of disapproval targeting U.S. arms sales to Israel
∙ Use your voice and your vote to hold the Netanyahu government accountable
∙ Listen to your constituents, who want U.S. foreign policy to reflect our values of human rights and international law
The U.S.-Israel relationship must not be unconditional. Our tax dollars and our weapons should not be used to fuel conflicts that kill civilians and undermine any path to peace.
Thank you for your time and service. I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
Jessica
