I am writing to you as a concerned constituent to express my profound disapproval of the ongoing United States interference in the internal political affairs of Venezuela. As my representative in Washington, I urge you to push for a foreign policy that prioritizes national sovereignty and moves away from the destabilizing tactics of the past. The United States has long criticized nations like Russia and China for their attempts to influence the domestic outcomes of sovereign states. However, our current trajectory in Venezuela mirrors those very actions. When we use our economic and political weight to pick winners and losers in foreign elections or to engineer regime change, we lose the moral high ground. We cannot claim to be the global guardians of democracy while simultaneously undermining the self-determination of our neighbors. Furthermore, I am deeply concerned about the potential for retaliation from the rest of the world. The international community is increasingly weary of unilateral American interventionism. By continuing down this path, we risk alienating key allies and pushing unaligned nations into the orbits of our adversaries. Such actions invite economic blowback and diplomatic isolation that could harm American interests for decades to come. The United States is not a "banana republic," and our foreign policy should reflect the dignity and restraint of a mature superpower. We must stop treating the Western Hemisphere as a chessboard for geopolitical maneuvering. True leadership involves respecting international law and fostering stability through diplomacy rather than coercion. History has shown us that meddling in Latin American politics often results in long-term instability, mass migration, and a loss of American credibility. I ask that you advocate for a shift in policy—one that ends unilateral sanctions that primarily hurt the Venezuelan people and instead supports authentic, internally-led diplomatic solutions. We must lead by the power of our example, not by the example of our power. I look forward to a response detailing your office's stance on this critical issue.
