Oppose Executive Order 14215, "Ensuring Accountability for All Agencies"

To: Rep. Nunn, Sen. Ernst, Sen. Grassley

From: A constituent in Des Moines, IA

February 25

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding Executive Order 14215, titled "Ensuring Accountability for All Agencies," signed by President Trump on February 18, 2025. This order significantly undermines our constitutional system of checks and balances by expanding executive authority while limiting congressional oversight. Specifically, it mandates that independent regulatory agencies submit all significant regulatory actions to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) for review before publication in the Federal Register, effectively granting the President unilateral decision-making power and reducing transparency. natlawreview.com By consolidating power within the executive branch, this order: • Weakens oversight mechanisms, diminishing transparency in presidential decisions. • Reduces congressional authority, hindering lawmakers' ability to review or challenge executive actions. • Limits judicial recourse, making it more difficult for courts to address potential abuses of power. • Disrupts the balance of power, enabling unchecked executive actions that affect millions of Americans. Unchecked presidential power poses a direct threat to our democracy and endangers the rights and freedoms of all citizens, including those who support the current administration. Today, it may serve one political interest; tomorrow, it could be wielded against those very supporters. No American, regardless of party affiliation, should accept the erosion of congressional authority and accountability. I urge you to publicly denounce Executive Order 14215 and encourage your colleagues to do the same. Upholding the Constitution and protecting the rights of the American people must take precedence over short-term political gains. I expect my elected representatives to defend the principles that have sustained our nation's freedom. Please inform me of the actions you plan to take to oppose this Executive Order and safeguard the integrity of our democratic system. I look forward to your prompt response.
