Texans want the truth

To: Gov. Abbott, Rep. Harris Davila, Sen. Schwertner, Lt. Gov. Patrick

From: A constituent in Leander, TX

September 20, 2025

Stop lying to our kids. Stop censoring their education. Texas students deserve the truth in their classrooms—nothing less. Our children must learn the full history of this country and this state—the good, the bad, and the ugly. Whitewashing the past is dishonest and dangerous. Students cannot build a better future if you deny them the truth about the past. Hiding facts does not make them disappear; it only guarantees that the mistakes of history will be repeated. Health education must also be based on facts, not politics. Age-appropriate, medically accurate instruction saves lives. Denying students truthful health information puts them in harm’s way. That is negligence, plain and simple. The same goes for science. Science is not an opinion. Climate change, evolution, and basic biology are facts. Our students need real scientific knowledge to compete in today’s world. Any attempt to replace evidence with ideology is sabotage of their education and their future. Every Texas student, in every public school, has the right to be taught the truth in all subjects. Anything else is censorship. Anything else is propaganda. And anything else is a betrayal of your duty to the people of this state. You are not elected to protect fragile feelings or political agendas. You are elected to serve Texans—and that means guaranteeing our children get an honest education. Do your job. Teach the truth.
