At least 10 DOGE operatives have infiltrated the SSA. The ballooning of DOGE’s presence comes as Musk and his cohorts publicly threaten social security benefits citing unsubstantiated claims of widespread fraud. Many of them worked at Musk’s companies and the majority of them appeared at other government agencies in recent weeks. Seven of them have read only access to several databases such as the Master Beneficiary Record and Numident which contains info about anyone who has ever applied for benefits. They falsely claim they do not have access to production code or automation files but Tracy Flick the former chief of staff said that Michael Russo who is DOGE aligned and was appointed by Trump demanded Akash Bobba (former Palantir intern with Thiel) ) be given access to everything including source code. Flick said she outlined measures in place to prevent fraud and how info is handled to Russo but he was focused on the myth of widespread fraud and fixated on conspiracy theories. Flick said the operatives did not have the requisite knowledge and training on preventing sensitive information from being transferred to bad actors. Individuals having access to the records of multiple agencies is highly unusual and problematic. Federal law places strict controls on personal data held by agencies including limits on cross transfer and rigorous training requirements for personal who have a legit need to access. Ignoring safeguards and haphazardly putting systems at multiple agencies under the thumb of single engineers obliterates those protections. This comes as they are firing employees at SSA but cutting services like phone identification that will cause users to need more services. It is obvious that Musk and Thiel are behind this and the purpose is to dismantle SSA. In the meantime they have access to information and systems that can cause lots of damage.
