Stop funding Israel

To: Sen. Merkley, Sen. Wyden, Rep. Salinas

From: A constituent in Tualatin, OR

May 29

I am writing to you as a concerned citizen and taxpayer to express my strong opposition to the continued financial support that the United States provides to the state of Israel. It is my firm belief that not one more dollar of taxpayer money should be sent to Israel, and I urge Congress to revoke all previous funding that has been allocated to this country. The United States has long been a significant supporter of Israel, providing billions of dollars in military aid and economic assistance. However, the current geopolitical climate, coupled with numerous reports of human rights violations and the ongoing conflict in the region, makes it imperative that we reconsider this policy. Our taxpayer dollars should not be used to support actions that contravene international law and contribute to the suffering of innocent civilians. Furthermore, the funds currently being sent to Israel could be better utilized to address pressing issues within our own country. We are facing a multitude of challenges, including inadequate healthcare, crumbling infrastructure, a growing climate crisis, and a severe housing crisis. Many Americans are struggling with the inability to afford housing and basic living expenses, which is exacerbating inequality and putting immense pressure on families across the nation. Redirecting this financial support to domestic needs would not only benefit the American people but also reflect a commitment to prioritizing our nation's well-being. Investing in affordable housing, improving our healthcare system, repairing infrastructure, and addressing the climate crisis are critical steps that need immediate attention and resources. It is time for Congress to take a stand and reevaluate our foreign aid policies. I strongly urge you to act in the best interest of your constituents and the principles of justice and equality by ending all financial support to Israel and revoking previous funding. By doing so, we can ensure that our resources are used to promote peace, stability, and prosperity both at home and abroad. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. I look forward to your response and hope to see meaningful action taken to address these concerns.
