I demand that you reject all additional funding for the U.S. war against Iran and use Congress’s constitutional power of the purse to end these hostilities.
Do not approve the requested $67.1 billion in additional Pentagon funding. Do not hide Iran-war money in the NDAA, defense appropriations, an omnibus, a continuing resolution, emergency accounts, Pentagon transfers, or reimbursements to foreign governments.
Congress must pass binding legislation prohibiting federal funds from being used for:
• Attacks, bombing, blockades, or offensive cyberoperations against Iran
• Intelligence, targeting, surveillance, refueling, logistics, or contractor support for such attacks
• Replacing weapons and munitions used in the war
• Supporting Israeli or other foreign military attacks on Iran
• Reprogramming or transferring previously appropriated funds to continue the war
A nonbinding War Powers resolution is not enough. Congress must enact an enforceable funding cutoff and require the removal of U.S. forces from unauthorized hostilities. Any exception must be narrowly limited to withdrawing personnel or responding to an actual and imminent attack—not vague claims of “force protection.”
Congress must also rescind unobligated war funding and pass a dollar-for-dollar Domestic Needs Supplemental investing at least $67.1 billion in:
• SNAP, WIC, food banks, and universal school meals
• Medicaid, rural hospitals, community health centers, and lower prescription costs
• Affordable housing, rental assistance, and homelessness services
• Childcare, Head Start, and public schools
• LIHEAP, weatherization, clean water, and reliable electric infrastructure
• Disaster relief, public transit, roads, bridges, and union jobs
• Veterans’ healthcare, mental-health treatment, disability services, and military-family housing
Voting against new Pentagon funding alone will not redirect the money. Congress must affirmatively appropriate it to meet people’s needs.
Americans are struggling with food costs, medical bills, rent, childcare, utilities, and failing infrastructure. Our tax dollars should sustain life—not finance another illegal and devastating war.
Reject the Pentagon supplemental. Cut off every direct and indirect funding route for war with Iran. Fund Americans instead.
