I am writing as a constituent to urge you to filibuster the upcoming Homeland Security appropriations bill and oppose any effort to provide additional funding to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. I am sick of watching what is happening in this country under the banner of “law and order.” Lawful citizens and noncitizens alike are being arrested at their workplaces, assaulted at peaceful protests, pulled from their vehicles, blinded by so-called crowd-control munitions, and in some cases shot and killed. These are not isolated incidents—they are the predictable result of an agency that has been given too much money, too much power, and far too little accountability. This bill already allocates $18.75 billion for DHS in fiscal year 2026. That is an extraordinary sum. There is no justification for adding another $10 billion to further expand an enforcement apparatus that is actively harming communities, eroding civil liberties, and undermining public trust. More funding will not make our communities safer. It will only mean more militarized raids, more racial profiling, more family separations, and more violations of constitutional rights. At a time when families are struggling to afford housing, health care, and education, pouring billions more into abusive enforcement is both morally wrong and fiscally irresponsible. I am asking you to use the full power of your office to filibuster this bill and block any additional funding for ICE. We need a government that protects human dignity and upholds the rule of law—not one that terrorizes workers, protesters, and families in the name of enforcement. Please stand with your constituents and with the principles of justice and accountability.
