I am writing to urge you to co-sponsor and pass the Stop Arming Cartels Act (H.R.923/S.367). This bill can stop the flow of U.S.-made guns into the hands of violent cartels that terrorize communities in Mexico, smuggle fentanyl into the United States, and contribute to instability throughout the region. Each year, up to 500,000 firearms, many purchased through unlicensed dealers and straw buyers, are trafficked from the U.S. into Mexico. Nearly 70% of the weapons recovered from Mexican crime scenes originate from the United States. This is unacceptable. This bill is about keeping people, on both sides of the border, safe. It deserves your urgent attention and sustained support.
