“We did good work today, America.” Yesterday’s ‘No Kings’ was among the largest protests in American history. They included not only big cities but also communities in all 50 states and every congressional district. Including rural and Republican territory. Early counts put the total at 8M people. Topping the 7M estimated at the last "No Kings" in October 2025. Fun factoid. With a population approaching 349M , the participation of 8M people means that more than one of every 50 US residents joined a ‘No Kings’ rally. Organizers said 2/3 of the participants who signed up lived outside big cities. A 40% increase over last time in those from suburban, small town and rural addresses. Lots of new turnout in ‘real’ America, i.e. red states and districts. “We sense some of the Republican voters in our area are beginning to grasp, and question, the costs of their loyalty.” Referring to Trump’s comments on the war in Iran, one participant said “I’m so frustrated that he can so flippantly say ‘some lives will be lost.’ But he doesn’t put anything on the line,” she said. “He’s a draft dodger himself, his kids don’t do it. So he’s talking about our kids!” “A divine entanglement of democracy.” “We no longer have a difference in opinion. We have a difference in morality.” “I think it's a joke," Trump said last year about ‘No Kings’. "I looked at the people. They're not representative of this country." I wonder what he thinks real America looks like? Predictably, in continuing desperate attempts to downplay American discontent, Republicans are depicting the rallies as a band of radicals, out of step with mainstream political opinion. Speaker Johnson said it had brought together "the Marxists, the Socialists, the Antifa advocates, the anarchists, and the pro-Hamas wing of the far-left Democratic Party." Others said the rallies "are where the far-left's most violent, deranged fantasies get a microphone and House Democrats get their marching orders." The only derangement we see is you guys continuing to support someone who is destroying our country. We the people are doing our jobs as citizens. The GOP is suffering dramatic defeat in most every special election these days. Even in the Florida state house race to represent Mar-a-Lago. We read ‘some’ Republicans worry the war will depress turnout among staunch “America First” proponents ahead of the November mid-terms. But we also read GOP strategists and county chairs across the country say they’re still willing to trust the president. Jesus. What’s it gonna take guys? Meanwhile, on the front lines of reality…in the Phoenix metro area, the Maricopa County chair said door-to-door canvassing has become more difficult since the onset of the war. “We're even going around canvassing neighborhoods and registered Republicans are yelling out the door, ‘go away, or I'm calling the police,’” he said. “I find that very discouraging.” Discouraging because Americans are unhappy? Or discouraging because Trump has screwed the pooch for the GOP? No matter. Back in the Oval Trump “is getting a little bored with Iran,” a senior WH offical reported. “Not that he regrets it or something—he’s just bored and wants to move on.” The people are definitely not bored. But we will absolutely move on. And y’all keep doing what you’re doing. Because every awful thing you try to cram down our throats just puts more of us in the streets. And adds to our resolve to save the country you don’t seem to care to.
