H.R. 9495 would allow the IRS to revoke the tax-exempt status of non-profit organizations deemed to be providing material support to terrorist groups, even inadvertently or in small amounts. As a supporter of local non-profits, I have concerns about this broad authority and lack of due process. The bill risks penalizing organizations doing important community work if they unknowingly received tainted donations. I urge you to oppose H.R. 9495 unless stronger safeguards are added to protect legitimate charities from unfair targeting. Non-profits serve vital roles and should not lose their tax-exempt status without robust evidence and an opportunity to remedy issues. Please consider my perspective as a constituent involved with local non-profits before voting on this legislation.
