Co-Sponsor the Supreme Court Ethics and Investigations Act

To: Sen. Padilla, Sen. Schiff, Rep. Liccardo

From: A verified voter in Saratoga, CA

July 11

Today I’m writing to urge you to Co-sponsor the Supreme Court Ethics and Investigations Act. The Supreme Court is the only federal court operating without a binding code of conduct, and that gap has allowed undisclosed gifts, travel, and shady financial relationships that go unchecked for years. This bill closes that loophole, and also establishes an ethics counsel charged with providing advice and guidance to justices on ethical issues, including disclosure requirements and recusal. Your co-sponsorship would send a clear signal that no institution is above accountability and the laws established to protect our democratic institutions. We all know that public trust in the Court is at historic lows. Basically, people don’t believe it is justice being meted out for the average citizen, only for the rich and powerful, fringe special interests, and corporations. Restoring that trust requires more than statements — it requires enforceable ethics rules with real investigative teeth. This legislation does exactly that. Add your name to it. Thank you.
