I am writing to urge you to oppose any proposals for additional tax cuts that disproportionately benefit the wealthiest Americans, particularly if they come at the expense of vital programs like Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid. As a concerned constituent, I believe such measures are fundamentally unfair and harmful to the economic stability of middle- and working-class Americans. The tax cuts of recent years have already significantly widened the gap between the wealthiest individuals and the rest of the population. These policies have ballooned the national debt while offering minimal benefits to the majority of Americans. At the same time, critical social programs that millions depend on are repeatedly targeted for cuts to offset the cost of these tax breaks. This approach undermines the basic social contract and further destabilizes vulnerable communities. Programs like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are not entitlements in the pejorative sense but earned benefits, paid into by Americans over the course of their lives. Cutting these programs to subsidize tax breaks for the wealthiest not only erodes trust in government but also exacerbates economic inequality. Instead, I urge you to support policies that strengthen our social safety net and ensure a fairer tax system. This includes closing loopholes that benefit the ultra-wealthy, increasing the progressivity of the tax code, and protecting the benefits that millions of Americans rely on for their health and retirement security. I hope you will stand with your constituents and prioritize fairness and economic stability over giveaways to the wealthy. I look forward to seeing your leadership on this critical issue.
