The practice of arresting and detaining immigrants without due process, through tactics like raids on courthouses and other public spaces, is deeply alarming and evocative of totalitarian regimes. These gestapo-like arrests, carried out by emboldened enforcement agencies newly empowered by draconian policies, are ripping families apart through unjust removals. Scenes of children screaming as parents are taken away in handcuffs, potential US citizens swept up, and lives upended without any criminal charges bring shame upon our nation built by immigrants. Such inhumane treatment violates our most fundamental values.
