Governor Newsom,
California is the wealthiest state in the nation and the fourth-largest economy in the world. We grow a quarter of the entire nation’s food, including over half of its fruits, nuts, and vegetables — and yet somehow, we are failing to feed our own people.
It is unacceptable that residents in this state are suffering from delays, cuts, or denials in SNAP benefits and basic health care while you podcast and campaign on issues already headed to victory, like Proposition 50. We’ve already voted. That’s done. Move on.
The real crisis isn’t in the headlines — it’s at the kitchen table, the grocery line, and the ER. People are going to bed hungry. People are rationing medications. People are suffering while California sits on money, power, and food.
It’s time to act like a governor, not an influencer. The top priorities for this state must be:
1. A comprehensive emergency plan to stabilize and expand food benefits.
2. A real solution to ensure affordable and accessible health care for every resident.
Don’t let Trump, or the GOP’s manufactured chaos, distract you from your own people. California has the wealth, resources, and moral obligation to lead. Show the nation we know how to take care of our own.
Fix this — before the winter gets worse.
Sincerely,
A fed-up Californian
