I am writing as a constituent extremely alarmed by President Donald Trump’s recent statements regarding Iran. On April 7, 2026, he posted that “a whole civilization will die tonight,” claiming that he has already accomplished “complete and total regime change.” This is a false and delusional claim paired with threats of mass destruction against civilians and the rich cultural heritage of Iran, one of the world’s oldest continuous civilizations. The rhetoric is terrifying, irresponsible, and unprecedented. It risks war crimes, global destabilization, and the annihilation of innocent lives, and it represents a clear failure of executive judgment. Congress must act now. The cabinet should have invoked the 25th Amendment, and Congress should have pursued impeachment long ago — but at this moment, urgent legislative action is necessary to prevent catastrophic consequences.
I strongly urge you to:
1. Publicly condemn any threats of genocide or indiscriminate attacks on civilians.
2. Take all possible legislative measures to stop unauthorized military action.
3. Support immediate diplomatic solutions and ceasefire efforts to prevent escalation.
The time for action is now. The President’s statements are beyond unacceptable, and Congress has a constitutional and moral obligation to intervene before further escalation threatens global security.
