I am writing as a resident of Putney to express my deep concern about the recent revelations involving Samuel Douglass and the Vermont Young Republicans’ online chat that included Nazi and extremist content. As a Vermonter, I believe our public officials must uphold values of respect, democracy, and inclusion. Mr. Douglass’s involvement in this situation, regardless of intent, deeply undermines public trust and the integrity of our state’s institutions. I urge you to publicly call for Samuel Douglass to resign from his position and to support any measures that ensure extremist ideologies have no place in Vermont’s political leadership. Our state has long stood for decency and fairness. We need our leaders to speak clearly and act decisively when those principles are threatened.
