Preserve US Funding for Life Saving Global Vaccination Efforts
To: Pres. Trump
From: A constituent in Madison, AL
March 26
I want to express that the decision to terminate U.S. funding for Gavi, the organization that has provided life-saving vaccines to children in developing countries for 25 years, is deeply misguided and should not be supported. Withdrawing this vital investment would undermine global efforts to reduce preventable child mortality from infectious diseases and strengthen health systems in vulnerable nations. Gavi has saved millions of young lives and its work remains crucial for increasing equitable access to vaccines against leading killers like pneumonia, diarrhea, and measles. Continued U.S. support for Gavi upholds humanitarian principles, projects American leadership abroad, and promotes security through improved health outcomes worldwide. This cost-effective funding should be preserved to build resilient communities and protect children's lives, not cut.
