I am writing to request that you gather your colleagues together and come up with a plan to shame the Republicans publicly for their failure to protect the American people from a president who is clearly having a mental health crisis. His remarks about Iran bombing Los Angeles and San Diego were horrific enough, but today, in the Oval Office, he told the press that he had just found out that Obama, Biden, and Hillary Clinton had impeached him twice, and that he could do “very bad things to them” if he wanted to. This is unacceptable, it is dangerous, and the Republicans have been cowed into silence. Every single Democrat and Independent must do the heavy lifting that the cowardly Republicans refuse to do. Call it out. File new articles of impeachment. Yes, they may sit in a drawer until 2027, but at least the public will see that you are taking what is happening seriously. This is not “Trump being Trump,” as the Republicans are claiming. This is a president who is suffering from some sort of mental disorder, whether that is Alzheimer’s or malignant narcissism, or dementia. You must call it out loud and clear.
