I am deeply concerned about the men who have been denied due process and sent to El Salvador. In particular, a California resident, Andry Gutierrez, a gay makeup artist, has been sent. I know that immigration issues are federal, but this is a civil rights issue that affects all Californians. I’m also concerned about the fact that the president stated he wants to sent citizens to El Salvador.
Now that the president is refusing to comply with the supreme court’s ruling, I fear for all of us. No one is safe. Your constituents are not safe. Please act to protect us.
This is a constitutional crisis and I am asking you to please work with your fellow politicians, both democrats and republicans, in California and in other states, to figure out how to stop this descent into fascism. This is a critical moment in our country, and we need our state’s politicians to work to protect the civil rights or Californians. It’s time to get creative and think outside the box. I challenge you to step up as a leader in this constitutional crisis. Thank you and your staff for all your hard work.
