Vote no on Senator Markwayne Mullin's nomination as Secretary of Homeland Security. He lacks the judgment and temperament required to lead an agency responsible for border security, disaster response, counterterrorism, and cybersecurity. Mullin promoted false claims that the 2020 election was stolen and voted to overturn Electoral College results even after the January 6 attack on the Capitol. A DHS Secretary must defend democratic institutions, not undermine them. His record shows he cannot be trusted to uphold election integrity. His conduct in a 2023 Senate hearing was equally disqualifying. Mullin challenged the Teamsters president to a physical fight during testimony, requiring the committee chair to intervene. This volatile behavior has no place in national security leadership. The Department of Homeland Security demands steady leadership and sound judgment. Mullin has demonstrated neither. Reject this nomination.
