NO to Jeffries as Speaker

To: Rep. Strickland

From: A verified voter in Olympia, WA

November 6

I am writing as your constituent asking you to choose a House Speaker who is not heavily influenced by foreign interest groups, is fluent in digital outreach so we can hold onto younger voters, and who is interested in pursuing both accountability and affordability. Hakeem Jeffries is NOT the reason we won; we won in spite of him. I do not know a single person in any of my multiple affinity groups that support him as leader. He absolutely fails to understand that the constitution demands accountability for the rampant, blatant, every single day corruption of this administration. He is against Medicare For All, which is immensely popular amongst those not bought off by the insurance industry. I’m asking you to support Ro Khanna or another candidate that is not funded by foreign interests and big corporations. Better yet, ditch seniority as a basis for leadership entirely, and go with effectiveness. I do NOT want to see Jeffries in leadership because I am not interested in merely comforting the donor class and seeking bi-partisanship. Our Constitution and democracy demand justice and accountability, and we should have learned from the failure of Merrick Garland’s glacial pace that accountability needs to be pursued promptly to the best of our ability.
