Vote no to dismantling department of education
To: Sen. Gonzales
From: A constituent in Tucson, AZ
February 14
Dismantling the Department of Education would severely undermine the educational rights and services for students with disabilities protected under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). As an educator working with these students, I have witnessed firsthand the vital role the Department plays in upholding IDEA and ensuring equal access to quality education. Eliminating this federal agency would strip away crucial safeguards, funding, and oversight mechanisms that enable students with disabilities to receive the specialized instruction and accommodations they require to thrive academically. Such a detrimental move would exacerbate the existing challenges these vulnerable students already face. I urge you to reject any efforts to terminate the Department of Education, as doing so would constitute a devastating blow to the educational prospects and futures of millions of children with disabilities across the nation.
